FAQs

  • Microgreens are vegetables that have been harvested before reaching their mature full-grown size, usually at only 7-14 days old.

The result is a much smaller plant, typically between 2 to 4 inches tall, with a more intense flavor and highly concentrated nutrient content.

In a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, microgreens contained between 4 to 40 times more nutrients by weight than their fully grown counterparts.

As the seed is germinating, the levels of essential nutrients are boosted to help the seed establish itself to better it's chance of becoming a full-grown plant in the future.

The art of microgreens allows for us to consume the crop within these first 2 weeks at the peak of flavor and nutrition!

This means that just adding a small amount to sandwiches, salads, or smoothies can instantly boost their nutritional value. Additionally, they are much more flavorful than their full-grown counterparts making them a great addition to a meal. Lastly, raw & organic microgreens offer as much fiber as traditional servings of vegetables, but are much more tender and easier to eat.

  • Microgreens often get confused with sprouts, but they are actually very different. Microgreens are ready to consume about 1 to 2 weeks after germination, while sprouts are significantly less mature, usually only 48 hours.

Plus, sprouts are germinated in water, while microgreens are grown in soil. We eat the stems and leaves of microgreens, but seeds and stems are the edible parts of a sprout.

The plant’s nutrient content, color, and flavor profile does not reach its full potential as a sprout. It takes a little more time for the plant to develop and this is where the magic of microgreen comes from.

What about baby greens? Baby greens are just small versions of fully mature plants that are picked before they’re fully-grown.
